Giving Back

The Northwest Grocery Association is proud of its members' commitment to giving back to the communities that they serve. NWGA members and their employees provide countless volunteer hours and generous financial contributions to over 100 Oregon, Washington, and Idaho non-profits.

Contributions support those in need both locally and across the country. NWGA members can be found supporting national efforts like the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, which seeks to inspire and enable young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible citizens.

NWGA members support local efforts such as Food Lifeline, a non-profit food distribution agency working to provide nutritious food to hungry, low-income individuals in Western Washington state.

NWGA is working to eliminate hunger in the Pacific Northwest. Every year the Pacific Northwest food & grocery industry regularly donate millions of pounds of surplus food and grocery items to be distributed to those who need it most.

Oregon, Washington, and Idaho retailers, manufacturers, and wholesalers are good neighbors who work closely with local Food Banks and other organizations. These centers distribute food weekly to food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and other programs helping low-income individuals. Collectively NWGA members provide over 70% of the food donated to Pacific Northwest Food Banks.

Responding quickly to entire communities in need...

While maintaining community outreach year-round through charitable donations of time and money, NWGA members are also ready to jump into extraordinary action when emergency situations call for immediate relief.

Where there is a need in the community, the grocery industry is usually among the first to know, and often the fastest to respond.
